Jack White has shared a tribute to his former White Stripes bandmate Meg White in honor of her 50th birthday.
“HAPPY 50TH BIRTHDAY to my big sister, the great Meg White,” Jack writes in an Instagram post.
“There’s only one of you Meggo, they broke the mold,” he continues. “You’re still inspiring people, including me. Love you so much.”
Of course, Meg isn’t actually Jack’s sister. While they pretended they were siblings in the press when The White Stripes were first starting out, the two are actually ex-husband-and-wife.
The White Stripes broke up in 2011, and while Jack’s been busy with his many other bands and started a solo career, Meg has remained out of the public eye. The two have rarely interacted publicly since, though in 2023 Jack shared a poem in support of Meg in response to a viral tweet insulting her drumming skills.
More recently, both Jack and Meg were listed as plaintiffs in a lawsuit against Donald Trump over the use of the Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army” in a video posted by a campaign staffer. They’ve since filed to dismiss the suit.
