Just go ahead now: Spin Doctors announce first new album in over a decade

Capitol Records

Spin Doctors have announced their first new album in over a decade.

The “Two Princes” outfit will release a record called Face Full of Cake on April 11. It’s the follow-up to 2013’s If the River Was Whiskey.

“We weren’t really thinking of it as a record,” drummer Aaron Comess says of the upcoming collection. “We’ve gone through a lot of phases in our 35 years, and sometimes things really gel and sometimes they’re just extremely difficult. When we made this record, we captured a moment where it felt effortless. There’s a really fresh energy in the tracks — a sense of us discovering the songs as we played them.”

You can listen to lead single “Still a Gorilla” via digital outlets and watch its accompanying lyric video on YouTube.

Spin Doctors will celebrate the arrival of Face Full of Cake with a show April 12 at New York City’s Brooklyn Bowl. Presales begin Jan. 20, and tickets go on sale to the general public Jan. 24.

For more ticket info, just go ahead now and head to SpinDoctors.com.

Here’s the Face Full of Cake track list:
“Boombox”
“Rock ‘N’ Roll Heaven”
“Still a Gorilla”
“The Heart of the Highway”
“Double Parked”
“I Liked You Better When Your Butt Was Big”
“The Buddha on the Lawn”
“She Don’t Love Me Anymore (Anymore)”
“I’m the Man (You Got)”
“While You’re Holding the Moon (Over Me)”
“She Stands Alone”
“When You Got Turmoil in Your Mind”
