Faith No More hasn’t performed live in eight years, and they haven’t put out an album in nine years. That probably isn’t going to change anytime soon, judging by comments made by keyboardist Roddy Bottum.
In the first entry of his newly launched Substack page, Bottum shares that the “Epic” rockers are “on semi permanent hiatus.”
Faith No More was set to return to the live stage in 2021 for a run of shows, but they were canceled due to frontman Mike Patton dealing with mental health issues. In a 2022 Rolling Stone interview, Patton shared that he’d been diagnosed with the anxiety disorder agoraphobia. In a subsequent interview with The Guardian, he said he also struggled with alcohol use amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the Rolling Stone piece, Patton also said that the tour cancelation led to “broken feelings on both sides,” and described the status of Faith No More as radio silence.
Patton has since returned to the road with the band Mr. Bungle. Bottum, meanwhile, has been working on a memoir called The Royal We.
