New Pavement song featured on ’Pavements’ soundtrack

The Pavements film has paved the way for fresh Pavement music.

In an interview with the podcast Kreative Kontrol, guitarist Scott Kannberg shares that the accompanying Pavements soundtrack will include a new song.

“It’s not a big deal,” Kannberg says of the track. “It’s just cool because it’s something different and it’s a song that we all kind of really love playing.”

Of course, fans would likely argue with that first point and contend that a new Pavement song is indeed a big deal, especially since the band hasn’t had one of those in 25 years. Since then, they’ve broken up, reunited and gone on hiatus multiple times. They also scored a surprise TikTok hit in the 1999 song “Harness Your Hopes.”

Pavements is described as part-documentary, part-musical and part-fictional biopic. It made its North American debut at the 2024 New York Film Festival and will screen in theaters in the spring.
