Sam Fender has scrapped the remainder of his 2024 U.K. tour as he deals with a hemorrhaged right vocal cord.

In a Facebook post, the “Seventeen Going Under” artist shares that he’s been dealing with the flu over the past few days, and upon visiting a specialist, discovered the severity of his condition.

“I’m absolutely heartbroken,” Fender writes. “This has been the best tour so far and all I want to do is get up and sing again for you all.”

Fender adds that two different ENT doctors told him he’s “risking lasting damage to my voice” if he goes on with the shows, which were set to take place in Glasgow, Scotland, and Newcastle, England.

“I have been advised to be on vocal rest and not use my voice for a prolonged length of time until it heals,” Fender writes. “I’ve done everything by the book this tour living like a monk, it’s so unlucky.”

Fender adds that he’s working on trying to reschedule the shows. He’s set to return to the live stage for a date in New York City in February.

Fender will release a new album, People Watching, on Feb. 21.
