TV on the Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe announces debut solo album, ’Thee Black Boltz’

Sub Pop

TV on the Radio frontman Tunde Adebimpe has announced his debut solo album, Thee Black Boltz.

The record drops on April 18. It includes the previously released single “Magnetic” and a newly premiered track called “Drop,” which you can listen to now via digital outlets.

“I’ve been doing this thing with this group of people for so long, that I can just have a vague sketch of a concept and I know [TVotR bandmates] Jaleel [Bunton] or Kyp [Malone] will have five brilliant ideas on where it can go,” Adebimpe says. “But for Thee Black Boltz, I didn’t have that scaffolding to hang on. That was both terrifying and exhilarating.”

Still, the album features additional production and contributions from Bunton and TVotR drummer Jahphet Landis.

TV on the Radio, meanwhile, played a run of shows in late 2024, marking their first live performances in over five years. Their 2025 plans include sets at the Just Like Heaven and Kilby Block Party festivals.

Here’s the track list for Thee Black Boltz:
“Thee Black Boltz”
“Magnetic”
“Ate the Moon”
“Pinstack”
“Drop”
“ILY”
“The Most”
“God Knows”
“Blue”
“Somebody New”
“Streetlight Nuevo”
