Kathleen Hanna and Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz are taking their marriage to the studio.
The Bikini Kill vocalist and the Beastie Boys member, who wed in 2006, have released a cover of the 2016 single “Let Me Love You” by DJ Snake and Justin Bieber. The recording also features former Beastie Boys touring members Money Mark and Fredo Ortiz, as well as Frank Figueroa.
The cover is featured on an upcoming benefit compilation Contra-ICE Vol. 1: ICE OUT, put together by the organization Build Art Make Change.
“Contra-ICE is not only an album. It is not only a collective,” says Build Art Make Change founder Dali Colorado. “It is a cultural infrastructure built to support frontline organizations, amplify immigrant voices, and mobilize creatives who believe that love is not passive; it’s organized.”
“It’s not often you get to play music with your favorite people while working with a grassroots organization like Contra-ICE,” Hanna adds. “They are passionately fighting against fascism and white supremacy, which is something none of us can afford to ignore.”
Contra-ICE Vol. 1: ICE OUT will be released Oct. 2, and proceeds will benefit National Day Laborer Organizing Network and Unión del Barrioc. The album also features contributions from Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello, former Dead Kennedy’s vocalist Jello Biafra and Fishbone.
A pair of album release shows will take place Oct. 2 and Oct. 3 in Los Angeles.
